BDOT #4: OVER! Glyph Defends the Title!

Now that Falco has his fast lasers back, can he laser-lock opponents like he could in vBrawl? I really hated that.

Other than that, however, I have no Falco complaints right now. owo is just really good as him -- if anything, I'd take it as a compliment if people were discussing how to beat my mains without calling my characters overpowered or cheap.

I hope I can last long enough in this Tourney to face owo again... But I predict Kien's Link is gonna get me. ; _ ;

What's with the nerf knighting? Nobody was talking about nerfing Falco. Even if we wanted to, this tournament is 3.5, and Falco is already very different in 3.Q.

Good point.

I'm at least personally concerned because I've seen characters nerfed because people did well with them too many times in the past. And considering 3.Q's only differences at all are utilt and lasers (though of course lasers is a pretty radical change), I would not be shocked if I were to see at least something take a hit.

Yes he can laser-lock. Nair -> laser lock is an almost guaranteed set-up if they don't tech it - you can try it yourself in training mode (I recommend on DK, Bowser, or Dedede because they're large targets making it easier to land the full thing). You can do the nair on a grounded opponent or an aerial opponent, as long as they don't tech you can start the lock.

Use side+b well - I fought PowerUp's 3.Q Link with Captain Falcon twice and we went 1-1, mainly because I side+B'd through like 5 projectiles in each match (each match went down to last stock).

*checks changelog* Utilt was sped up? Never noticed... it does feel natural though. This sentiment exactly though (and I'm not talking about MAX ROB either, though I feel some of the nerfs to ROB were unneeded and others didn't address the complaints people actually have... I was looking somewhat at a few parts of Ivysaur [though parts of her were very very strong], and also at Metal Mario [so I've heard] when I say this).

It's too early to give up, boys. I want an opponent full of spirit!

Don't worry, owo is waiting for you if you win.

Also, if people want my bracket predictions from here on out I can offer my thoughts...

Argh, really? It's very lame to get laser-bounced across flat stages, with no chance of escape until you reach the ledge. :(

Yeah, R.O.B. escorting certain characters off to the side blast zone with F-Air didn't get addressed.

I like Ivysaur much better now. What do Ivy mains think was over-Nerfed?

Metal Mario got hit really hard, but he was really annoying to fight, what with how he encouraged Stalling. The Metal effect had its "HP" reduced by 50%, didn't it? Perhaps a 30-40% decrease would have sufficed... I just know I don't miss fighting him so often.

Personally, I never found Metal Mario useful. All it does is get you on the fast track to getting your ass chaingrabbed for the duration of the effect since ALL of Mario's approaches that could otherwise possibly benefit from being metal put you in grab range. It doesn't do anything to help Mario's poor range, and negatively impacts his air combos, which are vital. It's just one of those show-off moves, like the various attack taunts.

The metal effect was reduced by 25%, mainly because it's original health was 50%...

Someone correct me if I am wrong about this.

Therefore...technically...it was reduced by 50%.
Math.

You CAN SDI toward the side he's bouncing you to get away faster/eat fewer lasers... I'm uncertain if you can SDI upward to then tech out and escape, but that may be possible as well (it's how one can avoid true jab resets in Melee, but given that jab locks occur in top-level competitive Brawl, something tells me you can't SDI up to escape them in Brawl- either).

In your defense it WAS a little confusing... and who does math on a video game mod board, really?

Good explanation, The Concept.

Sent out a prod a bit ago, the two matches we're waiting on will be either done by Monday or I'll just give the win to whoever was more available.

If it makes you people feel any better, I have very little ability to play at even half my best skill when in tournaments. I don't know why but that heart pounding sensation occurs and I screw up a lot more.

I actually have to play with my toes in tourney because my hands go completely numb and that's why I lost to owo also on a completely different subject Falco is banned from here on out

Well see... Vaati has multiple forms.. Picori form is his super tiny and helpless form. That's pretty much me on a tourney scene. Then he has his Wind mage Hylian form. That's how I play when I don't really care one way or the other. Then there's his Reborn form which is what I do when I put my tryhard panties on. So far, I've never had to go into Transfigured... I wonder what could bring that out?

So we both get that. Also, I can't be the only one who knows you're kidding.
