i guess it would probably take a long time just to get there then.. i was hoping that the main issue was in the individual fighters not having a swim animation to use, so i thought if we didn't need to animate anything new on all the 40-something characters, it would be easy enough xP

well even their fire modes don't look the same :P i like the look for each one, but together not as much.. if they just had like different hat colors only, that may be enough, but i don't know, it's just my opinion, i may eventually do one if it bothers me enough :P

i think making the head look a more yellow-y shade on mario would be cool.. also maybe black eyes..? and as for mario/luigi minus alts why not just the hat for luigi black and mario purple or vice versa and the rest the same?

for mario and luigi, can you alter them from each other a little bit? like can you invert the colors for pants-shirt-hat so it's easier to differ between them?

I actually really like the last new idea, VIII with the stun, because iirc, the noise it made in melee was based on his dark void thing in OOT at the beginning... i always thought it would be cool if the gandouken looked like it, but that it wouldn't be as good since the current gandouken...

also, my input on the ganon thing: ganon could just get slightly higher jumps and/or slightly reduced weight so he could start the WP from a higher point, that way it won't end with him as far beneath the stage.. if either of those would effect the rest of him too much, then to specifically...
