This is a rather... sensitive issue, but I'd like to start a civil discussion about it. The Project M code list was leaked a while back, and now that I've seen it, I can't help but think that there are a lot of Project M-exclusive codes that would really improve Brawl Minus. Unfortunately, we do not have permission from the original coders to use most of these codes officially, so the only way to use them in Minus is to find and add them to your personal setup yourself.

This thread is for the discussion of Project M codes; DO NOT POST ANY ACTUAL PROJECT M CODES. If you do, you may get moderated. The Minus Team is against using others' codes without permission. It's OK to mention the NAMES of the Project M codes, but not the codes themselves.

Now that's out of the way, please have a look below, at the list of the names of the leaked Project M codes, and post which ones you think would benefit Minus. Perhaps we can ask the original coders as a group for permission to use them. They'll probably say no -- I already asked a couple of them -- but there's nothing stopping anyone from using the completed codes in their own custom codesets.

I don't know what many of these codes do.

I would also want samus to be able to charge in the air. Her being able to move while she crouches is neat, but potentially to moveset specific.

Now that I have a Project M community in my neighborhood about 30 strong I'd love stock control for crew battles (since city boundaries actually split the neighborhood in two). Also, the tether recovery code would further buff characters like zero suit Samus who need it.

Zero Suit already had a good recovery in vBrawl, and it's only better in Minus (downB cancel/flipjumps). She isn't exactly a "bad charcter" either.
The other character most reliant on their tether, Olimar, was also improved in the same area; he basically has 3 extra jumps by using Pikmin Pluck.

Eh I didn't know you could cancel her flip. Thanks for letting me know. On the other hand a lovely user named Lightning has given me the stock control codes so I can now do crew battles. Made me feel all the happiness ;_;

Now that Project M has been officially shut down, are we still not allowed to post codes from Project M here, for use in Minus?

There's a lot of stuff from Project M that would really benefit Minus, IMO.

There are even former Project M developers in the current Minus BackRoom, aren't there?

I know the devs won't put any Project M content in Minus officially without explicit permission from the content creators, but it would be nice if the codes could be posted on these forums for individuals' custom builds.

Continuing the metaphor, if a brother with massive wealth/resources dies, don't you think he would want to (and rightly should) leave it to his surviving (less successful) brother? Rather than just be buried with it?

I don't know the desires of the Project M devs, and they may not even be allowed to talk about it anymore...

But if it were me, and I worked really hard on something, I'd be honored if people wanted to incorporate my work into theirs after I'm gone, as long as they would credit me.

Judging from the Project M devs I've spoken with, they are not like this:

If the original creators of Project M content don't object to use of their work in Custom Minus, I don't see why we can't post the codes.

The Minus Team is on good terms with surviving members of the Project M Team, are they not?

That's all I'll say about it for now.

We are not violating an agreement because a mod is dead. We operate on getting permission from the original content creators. If they say no that means no, and if we wish to honor PM's wishes do things our way, we honor them do things our way. This is not up for debate.
I agree. Just because we really can't get permission we should do something. And besides, this is Minus, not PM.

Adding a lot of this stuff would grossly imbalance the game anyway. Crouch cancelling would make some characters insane because they either could CC everything [Bowser CC up+Bing stuff is a gross idea] or would have tools that invalidate CC while getting their own tools from CC [Falco could potentially CC dtilt stuff, but his dair would likely break CC being a meteor smash, so he could more or less ignore the effects of CCing while having it added to his toolkit].

We clearly need auto-L-cancelling tho : ^ )

I'd like to see Snake able to move while he has his opponent in a grab, and for him to get that new Box Walk animation.

I wouldn't want to give up Nikita for Tranquilizer, but trading Rocket Launcher for Knife sounds like a good idea.

There are a bunch of little things like that I'd love to see ported to Minus. I'll type up a list sometime.
