Cool beanz! While I've got ya, how do I play this game online? Is it as simple as downloading the netplay build? Or will I need something else?

You will need to download the netplay build, and it comes with dolphin, besides that all else you need is to download a Brawl ISO. That will be the biggest download. If you are planning on using a controller you will also need to find and download a driver for it.

Minus is also wifi compatible, provided your Brawl Save data hasn't connected to wifi before.
