Intense lag on B- wi-fi play?

Hey guys. When playing Brawl Minus using the Wii's wi-fi, is it normal to have tons of lag? It isn't choppy, but all inputs are delayed by at least 1 second. Is there anything I can do about this? I have pretty good internet. (I got a C+ rating on speedtest.net and I usually get a B+ rating on pingtest.net) I use wireless connection to my wii, but I've been curious how wired connection works. In the wii's settings, if I'm not mistaken, there is an option for wired internet/ethernet. How does this work? Do I need a special/newer model of wii?

You need a LAN Adapter for a wired connection.

I experienced much less lag on WiFi once I switched to a wired connection.

WiFi is pretty laggy in general, and being over actual WiFi (and not ethernet) compounds that pretty heavily.
