Having trouble using Brawl Minus and Brawl Zeus in USB Loader GX

I used this tutorial except I used Minus and Zeus instead of Project M and Minus. The only thing that happens is that it looks like vanilla Brawl with either no new characters or extra random slots that crash the game when I hover over them. The FAQ on the Minus forums says to reinstall Minus, but I have tried that and it did not work.
