First of all, their gameplay is very solid right now. With the new uB and Nana survival, they are interesting and dynamic.

I truly don't have much to say you about them, but felt the thread should exist.


If they were to be changed further, I think a way to 'desync' their movement would be good. Specifically a way to make Nana or Popo move faster or slower than one another. Because Nana can now be recalled quickly, tricks like hurling Nana locations can be much more interesting. Were I to recommend anything in specific, it would be that their fB ends in either Nana or Popo being thrown as an attack at the end, with significant force, perhaps as a cancel in the middle of the move. This would help further their already dynamic and interesting play.

Remember that IC's desynch with dair, utilt, dash attack, whiffed grabs I think, downb and I think sideb. There may be more that I don't know.

I am talking about movement separation/desync to take advantage up the ability to recall. Right now Ice Climbers stick together in location very well, perhaps too well.

While it is not difficult to desync their attacks anymore, it is difficult to intentionally separate their position, which would be an interesting ability to have.

Personally, even though Nana/Popo can hypothetically be retrieved, it isn't that fantastic. When you know which ice climber to go after and then just pummel them to death, especially in 4 player free-for-all, they still die rather quickly and make you the group punching bag, or they're being juggled so much that you can't retrieve them as your friends escort you off the stage with Jigglypuff's or Kirby's b-air and f-air. That, coupled with a mediocre first and second jump makes it a guaranteed death, especially if the AI decides to grab the edge, which instantly seals your fate since they don't teleport back to you if they're on the ledge. Also, considering how little damage they can take before being taken out and away (averaging 60-70% so far) and their inability to take a punch makes them extremely gimped. Their vertical recovery is fantastic, don't get me wrong... but only if your partner hasn't been killed or isn't being killed at that very moment, and the chances of that not happening is basically nonexistent if you're playing anyone who knows what they're doing. And don't even get me started on Ike's ability to enter No-Sympathy near instantaneously because there are now two targets to take a sword to the face.
I also personally feel that, in order to discourage this systematic annihilation, the AI has the same damage percentage and cannot take anymore than what you have. They can be knocked back and whatnot, of course, but have a max percentage that they take before they cannot take anymore and it is the equivalent of hitting a wall. In addition, make it possible so that Nana/Popo teleport back to you when you use Up-B no matter what they're doing (unless they've been killed). Too many times has the AI decided to get intimate with the ledge or someone's fist while the player is forced to get intimate with gravity

That thing with the ledge is the only issue I've had with them. Ike getting into NS mode quicker verses them is a good point but I am mostly okay with calling that a counter pick against IC's.

Making nana and popo have the same percent is interesting.

ICs aren't bad by any means though. I know you didn't technically say that, I'm just pointing that out.

Minus isn't balanced for FFAs. Some steps are taken of course, but IC's will bever do well in FFAs as long as there is two of them.

It would be interesting to remove their Down B for a move that makes Nana wait in place and do nothing until pressed again, at which point she would go about her normal routine. Don't care for Blizzard anyways.

Blizzard is really good. IC's don't need anymore help de synching, as pretty much everything they do desynchs already.

I think using blizzard would be a nice way to desync, where Popo stops as normal and moves, but Nana just doesn't move until you input a command that's not a jump, walk, or usmash/fsmash (or something like that). Might be something to mess around with?

Uh.... I stand by what I just said? I think that would be a great way to kick off a rework, but they don't need anymore ways to desynch. Downb is a good way to a reverse grab.
